ROBERT SPARKS, DMD
CARLISLE, Ky.

Robert Bob Burns Sparks, DMD, 84, of Carlisle, Ky., husband of Carol Crabb Sparks, passed away Wednesday, October 26, 2016 at his home.

Born September 12, 1932, at Mud Lick, Pike County, Ky., he was a son of the late David Campbell and Fannie Bevins Sparks. Also preceding him in death were five brothers: Joe, John, Clarence, Orbin and Charles Sparks, and two sisters, Anna DeSalvo and Betty Sparks.

Bob grew up in Toler, Ky., and graduated from Belfry High School. He attended Pikeville College and graduated from the University of Louisville School of Dentistry in 1962; he then started a practice in Carlisle with Dr. Leon Riggs, retiring after 41 years.

Additional survivors include his son: David (Crystal) of Carlisle; daughter, Pam VanArsdall (Alan) of Nicholasville, Ky.; granddaughter, Lauren Hoagland (Gordy); grandson, John Robert Stein, and a step-granddaughter, Leandra Evans. His brother, Bill Sparks, and a large number of nieces, nephews and extended family also survive.

Services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, October 29, at Carlisle Christian Church. Burial with Military Honors will follow in Carlisle Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to University of Pikeville, Hospice of the Bluegrass or Nicholas County Family Resource & Youth Service Center. Visitation will begin after 5 p.m. Friday at the church.
