In Memory of
Franklin D. Wiley
September 25, 1934 - January 25, 2014

CHAUNCEY, W.Va. — Monday, January 25th, 2014, our father, Franklin D. Wiley, decided to join his beautiful bride in paradise. Our father was born September 25th 1934 to Charles and Lula Smith Wiley. He was the last of five sons who were all raised on Littles Creek.

His own father died when he was only nine which saw him enter the Air Force at the early age of seventeen. After his time in the Air Force had ended he entered college with the help of the GI bill. He attended various colleges in Idaho, Huntington and finally Charleston where he received his degree from Morris Harvey College. He started his teaching career and changed locations throughout Logan County and was even a truant officer at one time.

After his educational career he became a welfare administrator for the tri-county area. During all of his working life he was a preacher and teacher of the Bible in the highest order. He would never say it but I will take that liberty. He loved his God and the servitude that accompanied that love. He was an educated man whose wit and intellect were quickly on notice after only a short conversation.

We will miss him as we have missed our Mother. His children are Steven and Seth, at home in Chauncey with whom he resided, and LeDena (Tim) Miller of Chauncey. He has two surviving sisters-in-law, Juanita and Dreama, both of Chauncey. Grandchildren include Caleb Dowdy of Chauncey, Sydney Wiley of Mooresville N.C., and Carlee Miller, also of Chauncey. Various nephews and nieces, but one special niece, Alisha Martin.

Family services will be observed and officiating will be done by Mark Vance. He was a private man and it will be respected at this time with our deepest gratitude and with a private service only. Pallbearers will be made up of family.

Condolences may be left at www.collinsfuneralhomewv.com/ Collins Funeral Home of Switzer is in charge of the arrangements.
