Obituary for Roberta Marker Bertie Heller

Mother of OFDA Past President Gary Heller


Roberta Marker Bertie Heller, age 93, lifelong resident of Dayton, passed away peacefully Tuesday, May 10, 2016 at her residence. Roberta was the former co-owner of Marker & Heller Funeral Homes. She was born in Dayton on June, 14, 1922 to the late, Ora G. & Mae C. Marker, the founders of the Marker Funeral Home in 1925. Roberta graduated from Fairview High School class of 1941 and then attended Miami Jacobs, graduating in 1943. She was a secretary for many years and worked for Attorney Byron E. Holtzfaster for 19 years, a lifetime member of Mack Memorial Church of the Brethren and during her younger years served on many committees. Through the years Roberta enjoyed traveling with her family & friends, loved spending time at their home at Indian Lake and after retirement, she and her husband George, enjoyed many years at Madeira Beach, Florida. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 63 years, George W. in 2007; other relatives, friends, and her lifelong friend of 84 years, Mary Anna Kelley. Roberta is survived by her son & daughter-in-law, Gary L. & Susan L. Heller of Vandalia and their children, Dr. Stephanie L. Heller & her fiancé Nick Maus of Washington Township, Matthew L. Heller of Vandalia; daughter & son-in-law, Darlene A. & Todd Marsh and children, Michael, Scott & Donovan all of West Carrollton; her beloved sorority sisters; and many other relatives & countless special friends. Funeral service 10:30 AM Friday, May 13, 2016 at Marker & Heller Funeral Home, Huber Heights Chapel, 5844 Old Troy Pike with Pastor Rob Wackerman officiating. Interment Memorial Park Cemetery.
