Helen Ardella Johnson, 90, passed away Monday, May 6, 2013 in Wichita Falls, TX. Services will be held 1:00 PM Friday, May 10, 2013 at First United Methodist Church with Rev. Paul Goodrich, pastor, officiating with Rev. John Dillard and Rev. Georgia Harrison assisting. Burial will be in Crestview Memorial Park under the ion of Lunns Colonial Funeral Home.

Mrs. Johnson was born, Helen Ardella Roberts on November 18, 1922 in Thrift, TX to Clarence and Helen Eckelbarger Roberts. She married D.V. Johnson in Wichita Falls in 1943. She was a 1968 graduate from Midwestern State University with a degree in Education and taught at Rider High School for 17 years, teaching English, Journalism, the Annual Staff and the Newspaper.

Mrs. Johnson was a member of First United Methodist Church for over 70 years. She was also a member of several organizations, the Criterion Club, serving as president for 31 years, Delta Kappa Gamma an International Honorary Teachers Organization, serving as president for 39 years, the Swinging Stars Square Dance Club, where she and Mr. Johnson both served as president for 50 years, the North Texas Genealogy Association, the Wichita County Historical Commission, Romance Writers of America, the Museum of North Texas History, and of the Wichita Falls Public Library. She also taught many years for the Wichita Falls Literacy Council.

She was preceded in death by her husband D.V. Johnson in 2000, by her son, William Wayne Johnson in 2005, and by 3 grandsons, Michael Len Johnson in 1997, Tres Hood in 1998, and Stephen Wayne Woodard in 2003.

Survivors include her daughter Carol Davis and her husband Bud of Wichita Falls, her son Bob Johnson and his wife Gayle of Wichita Falls, a brother Dewayne Roberts of Marlow, OK, 7 grandchildren, Christopher Johnson, Jaime Johnson, Jarrod Johnson, Michelle West and husband Shannon, Jason Johnson and wife Lauren, Jeremy Johnson and wife Crystal, and Zac Davis and wife Kari, and 7 great grandchildren, Lilly Ann West, Hayden West, Elizabeth Woodard, Luke Johnson, Savannah Johnson, Kaylee Davis and Taylor Davis.

The family will be at the funeral home Thursday evening 6:007:00 PM for visitation.
