HAMPTON â Rahsaan Langford, 29, departed this life on Saturday, Oct. 13, 2001, in Newport News, Va.
He was a native of the Bronx and raised in Newport News, Va.
"Rah," as he was affectionately called by his friends, was a huge New York Yankees fan. "The Bronx Bombers" is how he referred to them. He attended Dewitt Clinton High School in the Bronx from 1988 to 1990 and was three-time state champion in wrestling. "Rah" was a founding member of Cru-Thik Entertainment. "Rah" was also an aspiring rap artist, "Rah-The Illict," who had performed in many local and national concerts.
He is survived by his wife, Sherri Ivey; sons, Rahsaan, Rahji' and Rasheed of the home; brother, Jabar; mother, Cheryel Langford; father, Rahsaan Brown; maternal grandfather, Godwin Langford; paternal grandparents, Gertrude Hayes and Alfred Brown-Manns; a special auntie, Sandra Diggs (Penny). He was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Alice Diggs.
He is also survived by special cousins, Hasham Mills, Kiam Pennington, Shayla Diggs; god brothers, Eddie and Damien; special friends, Allen Iverson, Gary Moore (who was like a father), Andre' Steele, Joe Prince, Marlon Moore, Eric Jackson, Anthony Lewis, Tilton Melvin, Kasine Powers, Eric Steele; and a host of other relatives and friends.
A funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Friday, Oct. 19, at Cooke Bros. Funeral Chapel with Pastor Jerome Barber officiating. Interment will be in Hampton Memorial Gardens. Viewing will be from 1 to 6 p.m. today.

A groomsman in Allen Iverson's August wedding was found shot to death early yesterday in Newport News, Va., which is next to Iverson's hometown of Hampton.
Rashan R. Langeford, known in Iverson's inner circle as "Ra," was one of nine groomsmen in Iverson's Aug. 3 wedding. He was 29.
The 76ers last night acknowledged that Iverson's friend had died, but they would not comment on Iverson's plans or whether their star guard would travel with the team to San Antonio this afternoon for their preseason game against the Spurs tomorrow night.
"It's inappropriate for us to comment at this point," general manager Billy King said.
The Newport News police received a call at 1:42 yesterday morning reporting that gunshots had been heard in the area of an apartment, police officer Dierdre Raines said last night. Officers arrived and found Langeford "unresponsive on the ground," Raines said. Paramedics pronounced him dead at the scene, she said.
An autopsy will be performed today. Police were following up on leads last night, although they had "nothing concrete," said Raines, who would not disclose how many times Langeford had been shot or speculate on a motive.
Although Raines confirmed the spelling of Langeford's name, it did not match the spelling in Iverson's wedding program, which listed the groomsman as Rahsaan Langford.
Iverson was unavailable for comment, the Sixers said.
Since undergoing surgery on his right elbow last month, Iverson has not practiced with the Sixers, and he did not attend the team's exhibition Saturday night against the New York Knicks at Madison Square Garden.
A week ago, Iverson, the NBA's reigning MVP, said that he did not know if he would play in any preseason games, but that he was targeting the Sixers' regular-season opener at Minnesota on Oct. 30 for his return.
"I just want to be there for the first game," Iverson said last Monday, after the Sixers' final practice of training camp at Penn State. "I'm not concerned too much about the preseason. I'm looking forward to the 30th, and, hopefully, I can make it back."
