SARAH KATHLEEN SNAVELY

Sarah Kathleen Snavely, 85, of West Williamson, surrounded by the love and comfort of her family, peacefully passed away Wednesday, December 30, 2015, at St. Mary's Medical Center in Huntington, W.Va. Born November 1, 1930, in Leitchfield, Ky., she was a daughter of the late Otha and Chattie Ashley Decker. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Billy M. Snavely; a son, David Conley Snavely; a brother, Shelby Lee Decker, and three sisters, Georgia Perdue, Patricia "Trish" Herald and Genevive "Dickey Boo" O'Bryant.
Kathleen lived most of her life at Chattaroy, W.Va. She was a graduate of Chattaroy High School. She was a charter member of Grace Baptist Temple of West Williamson where she devoted herself for more than forty years.

A lover of flowers, Kathleen was a passionate gardener. Anyone visiting Kathleen's home was immediately impressed by the colorful beauty of her flower gardens. She was a phenomenal homemaker. Her home was always beautifully kept and immaculate in every respect.

Kathleen was an avid sports fan throughout her life. She reveled in attending her grandchildren's sporting events whenever possible. She was accomplished in the arts of crochet and knitting. Her masterpieces were most often designed and created as gifts for lucky family members and friends.

Kathleen had a wonderful sense of humor. She was a practical joker. Her closest friends and family members were never quite sure who would be the next target of one of her good natured pranks. Kathleen always wore a smile and laughter was her trademark. A woman of style and grace, she was always impeccably dressed.

She will be remembered for her deep and abiding love of family and friends and her devotion to her beloved children and grandchildren.

Kathleen is survived by two loving children: a daughter, Marvi Rosen and her husband, Larry Rosen of Williamson and a son, Daniel Snavely, MD, and his wife, Pleshette Melmige Snavely of Hurricane; four grandchildren, James Conley, Kennedy Pleshette, Jackson Daniel and Rileigh Kate Snavely, all of Hurricane; a sister, Ernestine Hatfield of Williamson; two granddaughters of the heart, Ashley Rosen of Lexington, Ky., and Lesley Rosen of South Williamson; several nieces and nephews; numerous special friends and her caregivers, Kathy Rose, Anita Smith, Trish Jablensky and Tiffany Newsome.

Visitation will be held from 6-9 p.m. Friday evening, January 1, 2016, at Weaver Mortuary in West Williamson.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday, January 2, at Grace Baptist Temple. The body will lie in state at the church for one hour prior to the service. Reverend Ron Sanger will officiate.

Interment is in the Fairview Cemetery in West Williamson.

Pallbearers include Pat Lively, Matthew Lively, Donnie Lively, Kevin Parsley, Dr. Walter Nagy, Scott Goetz and Jarrod Fletcher.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to Grace Baptist Temple, 1618 West Fourth Avenue, Williamson, WV 25661. You may express online condolences at www.weavermortuaryinc.com.
