George Scott Poole, 30, of Williamson, passed away on June 22, 2014, in Williamson.

Born May 11, 1984, in Huntington, WV, he was the beloved son of George and Patricia Surgeon Poole of Williamson.

Scott was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents G. D. and Mary D. Poole and his maternal grandparents, George and Mary Surgeon.

Scott was a 2002 graduate of Williamson High School. He earned a bachelor™s degree in finance at Marshall University where he was a member of Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity.

He was a licensed insurance agent with City Insurance Agency located in downtown Williamson.

Scott was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Williamson.

He was actively involved in numerous community organizations including the Tug Valley Chamber of Commerce where he served on the Board of Directors. He was also a member of the Board of Directors of the Williamson Parks and Recreation Board. He was a member of Mountain Club and he was an organizer with the Hatfield McCoy Reunion.

Perhaps closest to Scotts heart was the Hatfield McCoy Trail System. Scott loved the great outdoors and all the adventure he found in nature and riding along the trails. Scott™s father, George, was a visionary in the formation of the trail system which brings people from everywhere to southern West Virginia to enjoy the rugged trails.

Scott was a beacon of light in our world. He was funny, loving, kind, helpful, compassionate and considerate. He was blessed with a magnetic personality that drew people to him. Scott was never without a smile. He simply made people feel good.

Scott will be sorely missed but lovingly thought of and remembered always.

In addition to his parents he is survived by his dear sister and her husband, Christina and Lucas Smith of Austin, TX; his aunts and uncles, Barbara and Pat Thompson of Georgetown, SC, Betty and Henry Nickels of Lexington, KY, Paula and Herbert Seay of Barboursville, WV and Pam Montee of Gautier, MS; his cousins, Chad and Anne Carson Thompson of Salt Lake City, UT, Hunter and Roisin Thompson of Jacksonville, FL, Amy and Jack Morgan of Lexington, KY, John Nickels of Lexington, KY, Charlie and Angela Seay of Barboursville, WV, Jason Seay of Barboursville, WV, Jennifer Seay of Barboursville, WV, Michael Pennisten of Gautier, MS and Donald Pennisten of Southpoint, Ohio. He is also survived by his girlfriend Stephanie Kirk of Williamson and a host of friends.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm, Wednesday evening, June 25, 2014, at Weaver Mortuary in West Williamson.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 pm, Thursday, June 26, at the First United Methodist Church of Williamson. The Reverend Tom Schuler and Michael Black will officiate.

Interment will be at 1:00 PM, on Friday, June 27, 2014, at the Lexington Cemetery, in Lexington, KY.

Family members and friends whom we thank for being a part of Scott™s life will serve as his pallbearers.

The family also requests that friends attending the visitation bring with them a written memory of Scott. The written memories will be of great comfort and treasured by the family always.
