Willie Ruth Jones was born July 4, 1941 in Cincinnati, Ohio to the late Amanda Hill McCord and Bush Washington McCord. Ruth, as she was known most commonly to her friends and family, was a graduate of Taft High School in 1960. She married Willie James Jones in September 1960 and from this union two children were born: Jennifer Ann Jones and Anthony James Jones. Ruth was employed at the Kroger Company in the Candy Division as a packer. She was with Kroger for 18 years. Ruth was an excellent worker but her most prized job was that of a mother. She was very proud to be a mother and she always felt motherhood was the most important job of all. Ruth loved to cook, garden, sew, and watch the news (MSNBC) and sports on TV. She liked to meet people and she lived up to her name "Ruth", which means friend. If she was your friend she was your friend for life. Her candid demeanor was always reliable and she was always there for anyone who needed her. Ruth was a very strong person and she had a very strong faith in the Lord. She believed that nothing can be accomplished without the help from the Lord. She was originally diagnosed with Emphysema in 2003 and later was diagnosed with Lung Cancer in 2009. She lived every day of her life giving thanks to God for allowing her to remain with her children and grandchildren. Ruth was called home after a 10 year fight with Cancer and Emphysema on October 11, 2013. She will be missed dearly by her children, grandchildren, family, and friends. She is survived by her: two children ,Jennifer Ann Jones and Anthony James (Kristal) Jones; four grandchildren, Arryan Ball, Asia `Blue, Madison Ruth, and Alyn Aalyah Jones; two nieces, Annette Giles and April Giles; many great nieces and nephews.
