Fatima (nee Rasool) Napier, affectionately known as Aunt Tima by her nieces and nephews, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, December 21, 2010. She was 75.

Born March 24, 1935, in Cincinnati, Ohio, to the late Robert Young (name later changed to Abdul Rasool) and Sadie Willingham (name later changed to Sadie Rasool). Fatima grew up in a loving family with two brothers and five sisters. She was very athletic and developed a love of sports. She played volleyball while in high school.

On August 2, 1957, she married Vassar Lee Napier, Sr. To this union was born six sons and two daughters. She lived her life filled with joy, energy and laughter, but most of all love. She was never ashamed to share her faith with others and even after her death she is continuing to show others the importance of her faith and love for God.

Fatima had a long career that spanned many decades. Prior to her retirement more than 19 years ago, she spent many years at Good Samaritan Hospital. There she cared for newborn infants, operated the elevator, and served in the housekeeping department. She loved people just as they were and brightened the lives of all she came in contact with while at Good Samaritan Hospital. Throughout her life she made many enduring friendships, and she took great pleasure in staying in close touch with each one of them.

First and foremost she was a devout Christian whose faith never wavered. She demonstrated this on a daily basis by the life she lived. She was baptized in Jesus name and filled with the Holy Ghost. She was a faithful member of Bethlehem Temple of the Apostolic Faith Church under the pastorate of the late Bishop Elzie W. Young.

In June 2010, Mother Napier relocated to Springfield, IL. She was a member of the King of Kings Apostolic Temple where Bishop Jason C. Brewer serves as pastor. Mother Napier enjoyed singing the songs of Zion and giving her testimonies. Mother was not ashamed to let anyone know that GOD IS A GOOD GOD. On Tuesday, December 21, 2010, the Lord called Mother home, from her labor to her reward.

She leaves to cherish her memory: daughter, Denise Sparks (William); son, Vassar Lee Napier, Jr.; daughter, Teresa Burns (John); son, Jeffrey Napier; son, Dennis Napier (Marilyn); son, Gerald Napier (Annie Ruth); son, Sherman Napier (Ratchel); brother, Hazrat Rasool (Anna); sisters, Besheera Suggs (Ed) and Rasheeda Noy (Johnnie); two brother-in-laws, Rev. Sherman T. Napier (Edna Mae) and Frenchman Napier; daughter-in-law, Veronica Napier; a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Vassar Lee Napier, Sr.; eldest son, Darrell Napier; sisters, Zahora Cooper, Geneva Meyers, Sadie Morgan; brother, Nzeer Rasool.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, December 28 at Good News Church of God in Christ, 1063 W. North Bend Road(45224). Interment will follow at Vine Street Hill Cemetery.

THE 23rd PSALM

The Lord is my Shepherd; I shall not want.
He maketh me to lie down in green pastures:
He leadeth me beside the still waters.
He restoreth my soul:
He leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for His name' sake.

Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: For thou art with me; Thy rod and thy staff, they comfort me. Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies; Thou annointest my head with oil; My cup runneth over.

Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the House of the Lord forever.

Condolences
